amazing fireplace insert, especially with all the color/speed/brightness options and remote control
01/17/2022I've had it for about a week (30 inch wide model) and I am truly impressed with the beauty of the insert and the functionality of the infrared heater. I have mine connected to a wall switch and was pleased to find that the settings which were operating when the wall switch is turned off are maintained when you turn the switch back on, so no need to recycle to get to the settings you prefer every time you turn the fireplace back on. It replaced an older model electric insert that was pretty boring, just a few fake logs (the blower that made the fabric strips behind the plexiglass wave back & forth finally stopped working). This unit wasn't too hard to assemble and get into my fireplace but you do have to be very careful with the glass and even this smaller 30 inch model is not exactly light. I was able to do it all myself though. After using it for about a week, I felt that the LED lights illuminating the tray of clear plastic 'rocks' were brighter than I wanted (some other reviewers mentioned this also) so I removed the glass and the rocks, put a couple of strips of standard printer paper on the bottom of the tray, then tested it out before putting the glass back on (a rather tedious procedure). The result was just what I was looking for so I then re-assembled. If you are concerned about putting paper down in the tray, keep in mind that the tray is lightweight plastic anyway and is far away from the (infrared) heat source located at the top of the unit. You could also use a flameproof material to line the tray but the LED lights below it generate essentially no heat. I took a video to show the dimmed rock tray but unfortunately Amazon is still preventing the addition of pictures and videos to reviews. Even without the modification I made, I would highly recommend this product!

Q&A
- Q:Want to make sure this fits my needs. Need a rack that fits my space that accommodates different shoe styles/heights. And my last shoe rack broke due to overloading. 1st Question: Can only one layer be removed to accommodate higher shoes/boots in the entire unit or could I remove 2 shelves (not consecutive, in different places in unit) to make 2 higher rows for boots? Product Details say "You can also remove one of the layers to get higher space for your boots." 2nd Question: What's the max weight capacity for each shelf & the entire unit?A:All the shevles is removeable. And the weight capacity of each shelf is 9.5lbs.
