    Keep pressing the rotary knob first, and keep pressing the igniter at the same time, let go after the flame is lit..

    The fire was ok on the top but suddenly a big flame came out from the side!

    The reason for tempering is that the combustion is not sufficient, which cause the flame to return to the air inlet. Was it a small fire when you notice it last time? If you forget, lighting it, burn it with a small fire and see if there will be tempering within 5 minutes? If backfire is found during a small fire, please move a part of the volcanic rock covering the burner to the side to let the flame burn sufficiently. .
